Church Organisations - Good Governance
The workshop is intended to open up the issues of governance currently facing the Church in Australia (and universally) in the light of the report of the Royal Commission on Institutional responses to Child Abuse, and the Plenary Council 2020/21 called by the Australian bishops.

The workshop will examine the nature of good governance principles and practices as they should apply to Church governance and is being marketed to Church organisations, with a focus on councils and boards, CEOs & managers, school leadership teams, parish priests, parish pastoral councils, hospital administrators and the variety of religious congregational people. Issues addressed will include the civil, canonical, moral and cultural responsibilities of those in leadership within the Catholic Church and the relationship between civil and canon law, between church and state.

Sr Rosie Joyce, lecturer in canon law at YTU and Past President Catholic Religious Australia, has coopted Fr Ian Waters (eminent canonist advising on the Plenary Council and lecturer in canon law at CTC), Gabrielle McMullen (Emeritus Professor, Australian Catholic University and acting VC of UD) and Peter Johnstone, Principal at PJ Governance,  to work on the development of this workshop. An impressive range of speakers (above) will address the workshop and lead discussion
